Make It Challenge

Participants in Freescale's Kinetis Make It Challenge seeking to create a robust, multi-task contest entry can turn to Micriµm's µC/OS-III.  Micriµm's latest real-time kernel, µC/OS-III features an intuitive API that is especially easy to use.  The kernel is highly efficient yet offers an extensive selection of features, including dual interrupt modes, round-robin scheduling capabilities, low-overhead task queues and semaphores, support for an unlimited number of application tasks, and built-in performance measurement routines.

Also available to Make It Challenge contestants is Micriµm's award-winning µC/Probe visualization tool.  µC/Probe allows any Windows PC to be transformed into a high-powered graphical user interface for embedded systems.  Developers can easily create professional displays in µC/Probe by dragging and dropping graphical components and then simply selecting a name from a list to associate a variable with each component.  The tool is non-intrusive, and it communicates with embedded systems via widely supported protocols, such as JTAG, RS-232, and TCP/IP.  It affords developers an ideal means of interacting with Freescale's Tower boards.

Links to Micriµm's example projects for the K40 and K60 Tower boards are provided below.  The projects, each of which is based on IAR's Embedded Workbench, provide simple but powerful foundations for multi-task applications.  A PDF user's manual for µC/OS-III accompanies the projects.

Below the example projects are links for evaluation versions of Micriµm's µC/Probe tool.  Two different µC/Probe evaluation packages are available: a full-featured version that times out after 30 days, and a symbol-limited version (allowing a maximum of eight variables to be used in a single workspace) that has no time limit.
